Leicester Printmakers Workshop - Solar Plate

Working with light sensitive plates which can be exposed using natural sunlight and developed using water, participants will learn how to transfer found material and hand drawn imagery into fine art prints. This versatile method of printmaking can be used to create blind emboss, relief and intaglio prints. This workshop is suitable for beginners as well as those with some experience of printmaking.

Bees and Flower Painting with Val Littlewood

Come and join artist and bee enthusiast Valerie  Littlewood for a workshop day of painting and drawing in the garden.  Valerie has been an illustrator, artist, designer and lecturer for many years and has a  special interest in the conservation of wild bees.

“With reference to John Clare’s poem lovely poem Wild Bees we will  be looking at the flowers in relation to not only their beauty and colour but also at their relationship with the bees. The garden is the perfect setting for a summer day sketching and drawing and learning about these little garden friends, what flowers to grow for them and how to conserve their habitats.”

You will need watercolour paints, pencils and a good watercolour sketch book. This is suitable for all abilities.

Valerie is Artist in Residence for Grafham Water this year, and has a travelling bee exhibition “Buzz” which showcases 24 of our British Wild Bees. She gives workshops at Easton Walled Gardens and Barnesdale Gardens and lives near Huntingdon. You can see her work on her blog www.pencilandleaf.blogspot.com.

The critically-acclaimed Pantaloons Theatre Company put dynamic detective duo Holmes and Watson through their paces as they tackle their most fiendish case yet in this delightfully inventive and hilarious show for all ages featuring live music, audience interaction and more mystery than you can shake a magnifying glass at.

Stick that in your pipe and smoke it!

All performances take place in the open-air unless otherwise specified. Remember to dress for the weather and bring a picnic and something to sit on. Performances will take place in all weather except a full-blown tempest.
