The Lovers Meeting

This is a high quality, limited edition book published by the John Clare Cottage Press, edited by Roger Rowe and illustrated by Anne Lee.

The book contains Clare's version of the lover's tryst - "The Lovers Meeting", transcribed from the original handwritten manuscript and published for the first time, outside a scholarly edition, exactly as written by John Clare. 
Designed and typeset by Patrick Roe using the Founder's Caslon types of Justin Howes and printed on Accent Smooth Natural White paper, printed by the Logan Press and the book hand bound by the Fine Book Bindery. creating a very high quality publication.

The book has been produced in two versions, with a cloth binding for £35 plus postage or quarter leather binding, presented in a chemise case for £60 plus postage.  The first is in an edition of 200 and the second in an edition of 100. Each copy is individually numbered and  signed by Roger and Anne.
All proceeds will go to the John Clare Trust.

Created as a result of an idea by Roger Rowe. For more than 40 years Roger's enthusiasm for, and study of, Clare's work and times continues unabated. Roger has served on the Committee of the John Clare Society and has become known for his often eclectic readings of Clare's verse and prose.

Anne Lee is an artist and photographer, who has developed a particular interest in using poetry and literature as a stimulus for her work. Her most recent interest has been the poetry of John Clare, his sense of place in the landscape in which he lived and the sensual nature of his poems. There is an exhibition of Anne's work at the John Clare Cottage.
