We can visit you!
The Cottage's Education Team can help bring John Clare’s work and birthplace to life. We want to help more people to explore and enjoy his beautiful poetry.
We can offer sessions for both schools and community groups. Our Education Team is able to give talks, seminars or workshops.
The focus of our visits can be on literacy; history; storytelling; the environment; performance, and creative writing. We can tailor sessions to link in with current events.
We can also offer more sustained projects (3 to 6 weeks) for classes and year groups. These can be delivered in school or here at the Cottage. The fees and focus of these visits will change depending on your requirement.
To tie in with our annual Poetry Competition, we offer poetry writing workshops to schools.
Visits in school generally cost £1.50 per child per hour. Please call us to discuss further; contact details are at the bottom of the page.
Workshops for Young People - These are a variety of informal and fun activity sessions done during school holiday periods. These workshop sessions normally take place at the Cottage, but we are able to visit your school or centre. The general focus of these workshops are on arts, crafts, drama and storytelling.
We also run a popular ‘Get Creating, Gardening and Curating’ workshop programme for school groups (up to six children) for a series of six weeks. The focus is on team building, practical heritage and craft based skills. Please call to discuss.
