The John Clare Cottage offers a range of first class education programmes and resources that can help teachers cater for and engage pupils of all levels and abilities.

These include:

Victorian Village Life - Experience what life was like in early Victorian times! Tour the Cottage and the village of Helpston. Discover how Clare would have lived and wrote. Find out how this unique environment shaped the way he worked.
Local Explorers - Find and examine plants and insects. Where does stone come from? How do different soils produce different results for plants and gardens?
Poets and Their Places - Discover Clare’s landscape and his stories. Explore the local area which inspired his poetry and use it as a stimulus for your own creativity.

Loan Boxes

John Clare Cottage has a full set of Loan Boxes for hire to schools and community groups. These boxes contain reproductions, costumes, and original artefacts from all the periods of history, including Victorian Life, World War Two, Romans and Celts. They can help you bring your lessons to life.
