Just a word of much appreciation to you and your team. We have had a most interesting and different day with you at John Clare Cottage, chiefly because you have made the experience so unusual and entertaining. We think that the information in the cottage is splendidly presented….so different from some of the places we visit. In addition the lunch was most enjoyable – beautifully prepared and presented. You have a fine team there! All of our members have been most appreciative. Thank you particularly for your preparation for our visit.
Best wishes, Alan Langton
Dear folk who run John Clare Cottage
I visited you this August on a perfect day - loved the cosy cottage, felt close to a precious poet of mine, wandered around the bright summer garden, jumped hopscotch at the gate, bought books and ate the most amazing scones. I had to admit they were A MILLION TIMES BETTER than my mother’s ancient, treasured recipe. So, I mentioned you in my sewing/embroidery/DIY/making blog - link below.
Thank you for a wonderful day, all the inspiration and your baker’s secret ingredient, very kindly passed on.
David (& Janet & Paul & Summer):
What an absolutely wonderful day we spent with you all on Saturday. The particular consensus was that it couldn't have been bettered and the whole experience was certainly well worth the trip.
From the moment we arrived we were looked after most informatively, enjoyable and deliciously and we've already started to spread the word amongst our friends and neighbours. (I emailed Judith Allnatt as well this morning with a "report" of our trip.)
Thank you for your good humour and patience and co-operation.
What a super set-up you have there. Long may you - and we - enjoy it!
As ever, Gary. (Brington History Society)
I just wanted to thank you for our lovely visit last Tuesday.
We all had a wonderfully inspirational morning. The cottage is so calm & the talk was fascinating. Lastly but by no means least the food was fabulous.
Many thanks for the organisation of it all.
Thank you so much, David, for your talk on John Clare, enjoyed by all. One of the members saying it was nice to hear the poetry being read.
His poetry still being poignant today, what with the destruction of the countryside and the persecution of wildlife with it. Personally will be paying you a visit.
With thanks. Dawn Symons, Crick History Society.
On behalf of the Keyworth Wolds Ladies Probus Club I write to thank you once again for a most interesting visit to John Clare Cottage yesterday.
Your talk given at the start of our visit was particularly helpful and please thank the rest of your helpers for their attention. Much appreciated.
Margaret Gill, President, Keyworth Wolds Ladies Probus Club.
The pleasure was ours! We both felt the visit was extremely useful and very professionally organised. It was enrichment at its best and I very hope we can make at least one return visit next year with the new crop of Year 13s.
Many thanks for your welcome and hospitality.

I can’t thank you and everyone at Clare Cottage enough for making our day there such a success today. Not only was it a perfect venue for our meeting but you catered for and accommodated our every whim and it was very much appreciated indeed. Please do forward this to your boss and/or trustees as I would very much like them to know what an excellent job you did! It is a very special place and I am looking forward to making a proper visit on my own in the summer holidays.
With best wishes,

This is just to say a very special "Thank You" to David, his wife, Chris and all staff at the Clare Cottage for making it such a splendid day for us on Saturday.
There were many comments of praise both in the Church and over the sumptuous tea. All agree that the change of venue was a good choice!
Extremely successful - thank you to everyone involved.
It was lovely to see the cottage teeming with life. The atmosphere was great.
‘It was a really informative and interesting day, we enjoyed the object handwriting and writing with a quill pen as well as the opportunity to go to the field and collect samples of plants and animals.’

Dear John Clare Trust
I am writing on behalf of Sir John Nelthorpe School sixth form. We visited Clare Cottage in April 2010 for a tour and discussion in preparation for an 'A' level literature exam. Unfortunately I cannot recall the name of the lady who led the discussion, but she had taught literature at degree level and was able to pitch the discussion at exactly the right level. This was a very successful trip, and the results in August were excellent.
just a small message but an enormous big thank you to you and everyone involved at John Clare Trust for giving Charlene and myself an amazingly memorable day. It was truly a wonderful experience. I will look forward to borrowing Charlene's prize book and enjoy reading poems by John Clare.
Just a quick line to say thank you to you and everyone involved in the John Clare poetry competition - and especially to Barry for his hosting yesterday - for the lovely time we had at Westminster! Quite a day to remember. Will the photographs be appearing on your website or anywhere that I can have a look at them?
Please pass on our thanks to the team!
